Streaming with VLC suggestions

All,

I am looking to put together something to stream point to point with my input being NTSC SD. I have worked with VLC Player on different areas in windows. I also have seen at one time on the internet, but i cant find it anymore. I am looking for a supported or tested hardware encoder lists. I would prefer to stream with high compression with mpeg4 so I can use less bandwidth.

Any suggestions would be great on advantages/disadvantages.
