Simple media player solution?

Hi-
I'm hoping this is the right forum to post this.
I'm a video artist in search of a software/hardware solution that will allow me to set up a seamless video loop
that is literally seamless, meaning no black, stutters, delays, etc. between the end and start of the loop.
Even though I can easily do this in quicktime, Apple is altering their latest version of QT X and apparently no
longer supports (at least currently) this function, which has me uncomfortable about relying on QT for the future.
Also, I've used VLC for sometime as well, and find it to be excellent and capable of the seamless loop feature
as well as being cross platform.
I've looked for a reliable solution that is simple for gallery and museum applications, without much luck so far.
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a solid hardware solution that works with VLC that's reliable, simple for people
to use, and more affordable than using a dedicated computer as a media player. (i.e. Western Digital HDTV which
works great but not seamless). I would also really like to find a solution that is based on SSD drives rather than platter
drives if possible. If anyone has any suggestions or knows of a good potential resource I would
really appreciate it.
