VLC Firefox plugin for Ubuntu

This is my first time installing VLC. The only issue I have is with the Firefox plugin. When I attempt to load a video stream (ie apple.com) all I get is a black box with "(no pictue)".

It appears the issue is related to more current sites like apple.com & such.

The plugin did work on some older sites.

Any thoughts?
