Windows vs. Linux

I am thinking long time about this, hope you are more experienced....
Does OS influence the stability and the live of VLC or is this stupid question?

On the begining I am not trying to start some anoying efectless flame...

Most of the VLC developers run debian Linux (or Mac OS X). VLC is thus more likely to be stable on Linux than on windows. (and no, this is not a stupid question)

I had no problems with vlc on debian, knoppix nor fedora.

on my windows machine there are major delays so I guess you could be right. This delay was not there some months ago so maybe the latest sp could be a cause? :shock:

What is the best graphic video card to use with VideoLan in Windows and Linux? :roll:

We would like to receive several MPEG2 videos at the same time (8 streams), do a transcoding to a lower scale and send it to several files.
