Bug Report - Recorded MP4 (from MP4)

Postby smudger » 01 Apr 2010 14:08

I found where VLC stores my Recorded edits which in my case is MyDocuments although it would be good to have an option as to where they should be.

However the bug I am finding is that the MP4 recorded snips can be viewed successfully with QuickTime Player or Media Player Classic but not by VLC the player that recorded the MP4 files in the first place. With VLC all I can get is the audio and a black screen!

So I can forward any Recorded edits on to friends but as long as I tell them not to use VLC to view them (although VLC created them!) :?

I don't know if this is just a problem with my configuration or more widespread (WinXP SP3)

Strangely enough after about 10 minutes playing other files I tried again and it worked!!!

Maybe I had to quit first and restart VLC before it would play its own edits. (Maybe it was relevant that I had to quit after renaming the files to remove the mp4 VLC appended to a filename already ending in MP4. I don't know if that had anything to do with it).

Renaming and then playing it by adding to the current PlayList and using that to play the file worked for me. Playing recorded edits by using the 'Open File' method or any other method produced the problems...

Add to PlayList >> Play item from PlayList seems to be the workaround
