Album Artwork - VLC Documents Cache

Postby Disconnecting » 29 Jan 2010 09:05

Hey everyone. While this problem may not be an issue with VLC Media player; I'd like to rule VLC out as the culprit.

An external hdd contains my music collection. Which means if I ever wanted to: I'm capable of accessing this collection on win7, winxp, osx. There are no album art images anywhere on this hard directory that I can find. Or any images on this drive at all for that matter. This external is connected to a fresh install of windows. Whenever I access a song through VLC on windows - album art is cached in the VLC application documents directory.

Some more specific info:
-VLC v1.0.3
-Able to view hidden files & folders. (invisible by default)
-Able to view system files & folders. (invisible by default)
-No thumbnail.db files.
-Windows is told to not cache images. (default caches)
-No .jpg files or files entitled 'art', 'artalbum', or 'album' on the entire hard drive. (Only on the system hard drive. Only within the VLC art album cache folder. "C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data/vlc/art" & Only if I access .mp3 files through VLC would any images be created.)
-Fresh install of windows xp 32bit (any build) or windows 7 64bit (any build)

Is VLC downloading this content? Similar to how iTunes/WMP would download album art? Thank you for your time.
Also, if anyone knows how to delete/stop VLC from caching, creating, or downloading more images... I'd appreciate it.

It asks first time you start it. Otherwise, the setting lie somewhere in the preferences.
