VLC could not open the encoder

I'm very new to this, but took the advice of a post on this forum to use the Streaming/Exporting Wizard of VLC 1.0.2 for Mac to capture (record) a streaming video coming from Channel 5 at http://maharishichannel.in

When I clicked the final 'ok' in the Wizard instructions, I received the message : Streaming / Transcoding failed, VLC could not open the encoder.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

You've selected a codec that your VLC version cannot encode to. No way to fix this.

I have a similar problem trying to convert video from one format to another. I get the message:

"Streaming / Transcoding failed:
VLC could not open the encoder."

Unfortunately I don't have the solution but wouyld add my request to yours for more information if possible.

Could you please post your transcoding command or steps here? I have faced this problem earlier may be could help you in this.
