UPDATED: Choppy Playback on MPEG2 files/streams > v.1.0.x

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

UPDATED: Choppy Playback on MPEG2 files/streams > v.1.0.x

Postby mrosche » 14 Dec 2009 13:41

UPDATED: I have tried the nightly builds for 1.1.x (for the last two weeks) and this is still an issue...should I open a bug ticket? Is this issue recognized? Are any other users experiencing this problem?

It seems that other users are experiencing this problem as well...see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=555696.

I also see something relevant here: http://mailman.videolan.org/pipermail/v ... 62042.html

and here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=63307 (the error messages are pretty much the same).

Another minor issue...from version 1.0.x onwards, when switching playlist entries, sometimes vlc crashes....especially when the new playlist choice has a different resolution or frame rate....

Please give Feedback!!!!!

Hello All,

Since version 1.0.x I am receiving the following error messages when receiving rtp streams (mpeg2 video, ac3 audio, mux ts) on windows XP, MacOX 10.5, and Linux. I have tried everything to correct this (played around with the cache values, etc.). I know that the vout portion of vlc has been reworked > 1.0.x and this issue starts with the new vout implementation. I am forced to use 0.9.8a for my application but this version has issues with the decoder leaking pictures and is also annoying....reverting to 0.8.6i is also not an option as the http interface does not offer all of the features needed (i.e. keyboard shortcuts, extended playlist information, etc.) Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated...

I am also seeing this issue when playing files from the local hard disk. (all types of mpeg2/ac3/ts files.)

Still frustrated......
