How do i get the subtext to work in vlc mediaplayer??

you have subtitle options in the "Open File ..." dialog. (to change the subtitle being displayed, just look at the video menu)

where do I find VodSub?

just put the subtitle-file in the same folder as the movie,
and make sure they have a similair names.
vlc will automatically find and load the subtitles.
see if this is enabled in the prefs.
