I have used the VLC player for some time now and even though it did several annoying things, I worked fairly well and I was able to adjust a good amount of video parameters but I had a very small travel on the slider buttons for full range and the buttons were always off to the left of the effects and filters pop up panel. Today the adjustment for some reason moved more to the panel center with a longer slide range. But that only lasted about ten hours. Now the effects and filters panel does not open at all.
Every time I run new video file, the VLC player blanks my monitor screen for ssome reason.
Help me please.......

Tools / Preferences / Reset then restart VLC.
