ts files and jump forward

i tried searching for TS it wouldnt return results, so appologies if the solution is on the forum somewhere - just point me there and I'll go.

I have downloaded the latest VLC and it works fine with AVI - however when i load a TS file (from my hauppauge tv card) I cannot use the jump commands (ie ctrl-right) as I can with AVI

any advice?
