snapshot causes crash in ver 1.0.2

Postby lideofan » 27 Sep 2009 23:33

I can't seem to take snapshots, ever since the ver 1 came out, and each version since, including the latest 1.0.2.
As soon as I try to take a snapshot, vlc closes and a popup indicates there's been a crash. Changing the output mode used to work on ver 1.0.1, but now that doesn't work anymore.
What could possibly be wrong with just my system, that nobody else has problems with snapshotting?
winxp sp 3
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 Brisbane 2.7GHz
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
GIGABYTE GA-MA770-DS3
SAPPHIRE 100226L Radeon HD 3850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s

thanks

I cannot take snapshots either. The last version that worked for me was .9x I keep upgrading to the latest release, but end up having to downgrade because the snapshot feature is essential for me.
I'm running winXP with a radeon driver. I've tried changing the output mode, but it still crashes.

I remember having this problem a while ago, I can't remember the version, but I downgraded, I guess I'll do that again.

Same problem, in verbose mode there is on console the message
"unhandled vlc exception"
Maybe that helps to locate the problem.
I saw the problem first in 1.0, prior versions worked for me, I've a ati radeon graphic and amd cpu.

I also have the Crash with Version 1.01.

This is sad, its such an important feature :(

ATI 4850 (CCC 2009.07.02)
Core 2 Duo
Gigabyte EP-45-DS4P with Onboard Audio
Windows XP SP3

Anyway i would be surprised that being system related...

hello,

same was to me. Then i opened just the plain player (no playback), changed (actualy set) the folder for the snapshot.Close player , then on the next start its working. It seems that there is no folder set for snapshot by default (after install), maybe this causes the crash.Hope it helps.

regards

I upgraded to 1.0.3 and it still has the same problem where the player will completely crash whenever I try to make a snapshot. I've tried different configurations with the settings, but it is all just guesswork and nothing solves the problem.

I am also crashing in 1.0.3 every time I take a snapshot. I have tried everything I can think of, setting the default folder, etc.

I was having this problem too. Switching to open GL fixed it.

Tools - Prefs - Video - Output - Open GL
