Letter box bars are not black

Postby emp » 24 Sep 2009 09:57

Hi I'm not really sure if this is windows specific or general but I'm guessing its a general issue.
When I run wide aspect ratio videos with my 4:3 monitor VLC letter boxes the video to keep the correct aspect ratio. My problem is that the letter box bars are not actually black but gray (very dark gray). The blacks in the video are very clearly darker than the letter box bars, which should not be the case (IMO). Is this a bug? I'm guessing this not-quite black is the same color as the overlay background because the bars are black when I turn overlay off (but performance is worse).

Incase its important, I'm running XP x64 with version 1.0.2.

Thanks!

(edit: fixed typo in subject ane => are)

Look at the ATI AVIVO setups. If you can't do it correctly, deactivate RGB->YUV conversion in video options of VLC.
