Timeshift an ASX/WMA Audio Steam

Postby CanadaJimmy » 25 Sep 2009 23:29

Hi all,
I'm interested in using my server to timeshift a WMA Audio stream about 8 hours, since the stream is from the UK and I'm 8 hours behind on pacific time. The steam is only 45-48kbps, so caching 8 hours would be about 1.3GB or so, a lot, but certainly manageable.

Would this be possible with VLC? I'm kind of new to the networking features of VLC, though it seems like it might be able to do the job. A direct method of simply delaying the stream data (so it could be listened to without re-encoding) would be ideal but I'm not sure if that's possible at all. I want to be able to connect to my "delaying" server and listen to the timeshifted stream on another PC.

Please let me know if you have any ideas!

Thanks

Did you try to play the stream and pause it?

Hi there, apologies for resurecting this thread, but it is relevant to the original post.

Was there a way of doing this? I am looking at doing exactly the same as the OP.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of this?

Thank you in advance
