Unfortunately, I do not know whether this problem is or is not OS related, therefore I beg your pardon if I post in a inapropriate forum.
I have problems when listening to DTS encoded CDs (music, no film).
I would expect that the audio data would be sent to the digital output of the soundcard as they are, without any decoding, so that they can be passed to the end-decoder which is hardware built into my surround speakers. In this way, the decoding would happen only once, so the loss of the quality would be minimal.
However, for some reason, I cannot figure it out, how to send the raw dts data to the soundcard optical output. It seems there are no data passed to the optical output and that VLC decodes the data itself and sends it to the analog outputs of my sound card. This is of no use to me. How do I instruct VLC to send the raw dtc data directly to the optical output of my soundcard?
I have SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty sound card.
