Read swf files

Hi,

I need to be able to read swf video files. I am running the latest vlc player, but am guessing it doesn't support swf format. I use vlc player BECAUSE it plays multiple formats. Is there some simple reliable tool that can do this for me? What are my options?

swf files aren't movies but flash programs, flv is the flash video
