VLC and Darwin Stream Server Relay

Postby rexx » 02 Jul 2009 12:22

I want to use VLC as stream source, and use DSS to relay the stream.
I have VLC on PC1, and DSS on PC2, both windows.
In PC1, I use the following command

Code: Select all

vlc dshow:// :sout=#transcode{vcodec=mp4v,vb=128,scale=0.5}:duplicate{dst=display,dst=rtp{sdp=rtsp://192.168.0.129:1234/relaytest.sdp,sap,group="",name="test",ttl=127}} :sout-keep
And on PC2, the DSS side, I setup the relay as following:
Relay Name: relaytest
Status: Enabled
Source Settings:
Source Hostname or IP Address: 192.168.0.129:1234
Mount Point: relaytest.sdp
Wait for announced stream(s)

Destination Settings:
Hostname or IP Address: 192.168.0.63 (PC2)
Announced UDP
Mount Point: relay.sdp
User Name: (blank)
Password : (blank)
After setting up, I run the VLC on PC1, but I can't see anything in the "Relay status" page in DSS web admin.
I can access the stream by another VLC

Code: Select all

vlc rtsp://192.168.0.129:1234/relaytest.sdp
But the DSS can not get it.

Is there anything wrong with the configurations?

After removing the port :1234, DSS can now get the stream, it is listed on the "Relay status" page.
But I still cannot access the stream from DSS.
I think it's the problem of "Destination Settings".
Can anyone helps?

ya it finally works.
192.168.0.129 is PC1
192.168.0.63 is PC2

DSS settings:
Source Settings
Source Hostname or IP Address: 192.168.0.129
Mount Point: relaytest.sdp
Request incoming stream
User Name: (blank)
Password: (blank)

Destination Settings (1 of 1)
Hostname or IP Address: 127.0.0.1
Announced UDP
Mount Point: (blank)
User Name: (blank)
Password: (blank)
Client:
vlc rtsp://192.168.0.63/relaytest.sdp

Hi,

which version of DSS are you using?, because i've got v6.0.3 and if i leave blank the mountpoint of destination settings i get a message saying that i can't leave it blank, it's not critical, but i want to know if it's a version issue, giving that I'm still unable to view the stream, even tho DSS register the client sending the stream (via sdp file at /usr/local/movies/ )

couldn't do this via relay either, and for what i've read it would be very useful. Also, is it possible that you post your vlc command line?, i'm beginning to suspect that i've got some sort of codecs issue as well, but at this point i want to narrow the possibilities as much as i can.

thanks in advance

S.
