Subtitles in SSA format

Postby jibbahjabbah » 10 Jul 2009 08:38

Is it possible to play subtitles that are in SSA format with VLC? If so then how can I? I've tried loading them but they won't show up. If not then do you know of a media player that will? WMP doesn't seem to work with those subtitles either (not that I really expected it too)

I forgot to add that I have VLC 1.0.0 and just finished downloading the latest update. The video file I'm trying to play with ssa subtitles is avi. When I try to show the subtitles nothing comes up.

AVI isn't supposed to have ssa in it.
Can you share the file?

Having the same problem... are you telling me they're incompatible with each other?

Anyway, looking around it seemed like a good diagnostic method was to load up the file and look at the messages with verbosity two. Did that and it gave me this:

But, uh, I have no idea what any of that means.

Oh, and the torrent for mine can be found here: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4433374 ... subtitles)

EDIT: Converted it to SRT, didn't work that way either. Maybe there's an issue with my subtitle configuration?

EDIT2: Okay, never mind, turns out the subtitle file was coded wrong.
