Bugs and crashes

Postby Medea65 » 06 Jan 2005 05:12

I have a Mac G4 and I'm running OSX 10.3.7. I have a USB Iomega external DVD Superdrive. I am not able to playback DVD's on my mac. I later learned that without Apples internal DVD drive, I would not be able to playback DVD's with an external DVD player. So, I was advised to use the VLC media player. So I downloaded it. Installed it and as the DVD started up I received the following error messages and I was unable to view anything.

Messages:
access_file error: read failed (Permission denied)
access_file error: read failed (Permission denied)
main debug: prebuffering done 0 bytes in 16s - 0 kbytes/s
main error: cannot pre fill buffer
main warning: cannot create a stream_t from access
main debug: unlocking module "access_file"
main debug: thread 34410496 joined (src/input/input.c:290)

Please help

Make sure nothing else is using the dvddrive.
Make sure you are logged in as an administrator.

If that doesn't work, then it might be that the drive designation that VLC detected wasn't correct, but in that case i think you are on your own.

PS. You did use the "Open disk" command did you?

Three things:

First-I am logged in as aministrator
Second-Nothing else is using the DVD drive
Third-I wasn't using the disc open command. So. Idid. I tried four different movies and miraculously they all seemed to play and get stuck just after the menu would appear. The film and the sound started to drag until they all just stopped and I would get the following error message:

main: INPUT_CONTROL_SET_TIME(_OFFSET) 148440666829613924 failed

Oh woe is me. What's next? Any ideas?

Could you try to open the disable menu when opening the disk ? And can you give us a more compete output if the Window->messages panel ? There is certainly a bug here...
