VLC player 0.9.9 crash on my samsung camcorder H264 files

Postby joek » 03 Jun 2009 23:41

Hello, I have a Samsung HMX-H105 camcorder that records H264 1080/50i. When I try to play a clip in VLC, it is very blocky and jumpy with a lot of pixels in the wrong place and then VLC dies. This is on both Windows Vista and Mac OS 10.5.7.

The clip plays in QT player on the Mac but not in 25fps and with more interlacing artifacts than I was expecting. I'm not sure about the interlacing though as I have no camcorder experience.

Below is some file information that I got using KMPlayer (doesn't play the file properly either).

Is there anything that looks peculiar to you?

Thanks!

Thanks! With 1.0.0 rc2 it doesn't crash.

Playback is full of artifacts almost all of the time though. Also, the playback (video) freezes for several seconds.

Is that expected with the type of file I'm playing when all I have is a Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz?

I tried setting 'skip loop filter' according to the first thread in this forum but I did not see much difference.

I would like to compare the files from my camera with other H.264 files. Does a site exist where it is possible to download different types of H.264 clips?
