Annoying Playlist Problem

Postby Kalle Fornia » 25 Dec 2008 01:14

I realize that this problem may have been discussed before, however, I don't even know what I should search for...

The problem is:
I took an already existing playlist (let's call it "a.xspf") and deleted some of the songs from the playlist, in order to make a new one, I saved it ("b.xspf"). Now, when I open it up, there's a bunch of FOLDERS (!!) in addition to the songs that are supposed to be in there. The folders are all directing to a third playlist "c.xspf". I don't know how to get them out of the playlist for good. I can delete them and save the playlist b again, but next time I open it, there will be even more folders c.
The same happens now, if I open a. There are also a bunch of folders in that playlist directing to c (oh wonder...).
At first I thought it might have been something I messed up in the properties, so I reset them...... nothing changed, problem remains.

Hope you guys can help me with this, because it is annoying the piss out of me, especially because the folders multiply everytime I try to "fight" them.

Kalle

UPDATE:
When I open a now, there are no folders anymore, but instead a bunch of "vlc://nop" (they have the same symbol as do other songs).
When I open b, there are still a bunch of folders PLUS  the "vlc://nop" stuff.

I have updated to .9.9 version and still have this problem, along with a new problem.

Not only do I have the same problem that you do with the folders of the other saved playlists, but now when I load the saved playlist, the titles of the videos that I had in the playlist don't show up. They are blank. I can double click on them and the file will play, as VLC knows where to find the file and even displays the name at the bottom of the player when not in full screen. But it will not show me the the names of the files in the playlist.

No offense to the programers or developers, but how did this happen when you updated VLC to be better?
Did something else change with the playlist or related to the way that VLC saves?
Is there a way for me to fix this?

Isn't the point of a play list to save files to come back to? Because this problem tends to prohibit that.

I really love this player, but this tends to make it hard to use it in the way that I always have. I love the playlist feature. I keep up with my TV and Anime episodes this way, so I know what I have seen and haven't. I keep track of what the last show was for friends who visit all without having to write or type anything down. Please tell me if there is a way for me to fix this or if this is something that will be addressed in future versions.

Thanks
