cant seem to watch payed VOD stuff

Hi all, I have been buying some car racing VOD (video on demand) from websites, and it opens in media player
atm and its always stopping and starting, purely because you can only buffer 60 seconds in MP11.
so I thought id try VLC, but im not sure where I enter in the url, and then I get so confused with all the options
can someone help me out please, also can you make the bufffer large in vlc ? say if I want to buffer 9 minutes
worth so it stays nice n smooth can that be done???
