VLC Freeze

Postby Rkane » 06 Apr 2009 14:34

This may well be a question asked a million times but it is to do with the player freezing...

I watch AVI/DivX films using VLC but it is always guaranteed to freeze at least once/twice at any point during the film. It starts fine but midway through or so it freezes and usually catches up on itself 3-5 minutes later - although sometimes it freezes the whole comp and I have to restart.

I use the latest version of VLC (0.9.9) on Vista, so what could be the reason for this type of freezing - it's incredibly annoying but I'm sure there's a simple enough answer to rectify it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Do you have something using your CPU or your RAM?

Oh, the ole CTRL/ALT/DEL function?

Do you mean anything large that shouldn't be running I should shut down?

I'll have to check once I get home - still an hour at work to trudge through.
