Can't play HD Handycam .m2ts files on VLC 0.9.8.a

Postby davescra » 01 Apr 2009 21:24

First and foremost, I am truly sorry if I should have not asked this question when I saw partial refs to it before my posting. This is my first post and I want to do the right thing. Here goes: My Sony SR-11's .m2ts files (once transferred from the feature-lame Picture Motion Browser) show as 'still' on VLC 0.9.8.a (XP, fast computer) and lock up. From reading some here, is the only answer to wait for ver 10 (even though it may not pass sound due to some other audio codec)? That would be ok for now. I tried to find v10 but could not. Where can I get it/When will it be released/will it play .m2ts video? I think the answers are: Just wait/pretty soon??/yes.

I am aware (and have) Sony Vegas and will try it to render raw .m2ts to .avi with the recommended HDV 1080-60i Intermediate template (if that is the best thing to do). Can anyone please tell me if that is the optimum thing to do to play HD w/o degration on my computer until my VLC question is answered? I am trying to do my homework and sincerely thank this community of amazing experts. Thank you!
