Playlist Won't Keep Sort Order.

Postby jkd_ba » 04 Jan 2009 09:48

Thank you for a great player.

I'm using 0.9.8a and when I add files to the playlist in a specific order,
save the playlist (playlist/save playlist...) and
later open the xspf file, the files are in alphabetical order rather than the order I saved them in.

Is this a bug or is there a way to fix this that I haven't found.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Add the ID column.

In the playlist dialog box, rt. click anyone of the existing column headers. You should see "ID" listed there.

Adding the ID column did not keep my playlist in order. The numbers in the ID column are in order, but the filenames next to them have changed order, apparently to random, which I have made sure I shut off using the button at the bottom of the playlist before I save it. Any other ideas? I am using vers .9.6.99 because when I tried to update to the next version after I could not get VLC to play on my extended desktop as it does with my current version, no matter what setting I changed or how many times I restarted both the program and my pc.

Edit: This problem appears to have been fixed in VLC 0.9.9 and the new v1.0.0 that I am now testing. Thank you to the VLC team.
