slow channel switching dvb-t

Postby vilac » 06 Dec 2008 22:05

hi,

i use VLC media player 0.8.6e on Ubuntu Hardy.
Recently i used scan to get a channels.conf to use my dvb-t stick together with vlc.

It works nicely, but changing channels takes a lot of time. I assume this is because vlc kind of exits and starts again for changing the playlist item.

I found this on the forum:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=51350&p=166368&hil ... xt#p166368

So obviously there wont be a "fix"???
Is there a way around it?

I know that its not the dvb-t stick which is slow, since changing channels is a lot of faster in other programs.

Help is much appreciated
best regards
vical

hm,

me again. Nobody an idea?
I would even consider to alter the source ;).

If I start vlc with

Code: Select all

-intf rc

zapping between video files which run in fullscreen, works fine - the player stays in fullscreen.
But if i do this with a dvb playlist it does not work: The window disappears, it looks like vlc is shut down, and then a new window appears.
Perhaps something like pre-buffering could help?
