How do I get the Interface to show while viewing

Postby tmcmat01 » 21 Nov 2008 15:47

I'm very impressed with this package. I'm a very casual and not-too-technical user. When I first started using the VLC player this week, I would be viewing a file from the playlist in full screen, and when I moved the cursor, an abbreviated version of the bottom portion of the Interface panel would come into view at the bottom of the screen. At first, I thought it was annoying, but I must have changed a setting and now it's gone.

Frankly, I now miss it. That feature was actually pretty darned handy and non-intrusive.

What did I do to lose it? How do I get it back?

Thanks, and again this is the greatest package! I will contribute $$. I have struggled with Windows Media Player for the last friggin time!!!

Tom

I guess you're speaking about the full screen controler ?

If you want to get back the fullscreen controler, their is an option in the preference of the interface to enable or disable it

My controller is gone too but it has yet to come back. I was trying to move it, clicked on the time elapsed counter area of it and it disappeared. I reinstalled completely and deleted preferences. I feel at this point that it's not even due to VLC. Any ideas? I'm using Ubuntu 8.10.

My control interface disappears all the time. I have to reinstall VLC to get it back. This is very annoying. I didn't have this issue in an earlier version, this started in the latest version.

I reloaded the software and then only made minimal selections/preference changes... and I made them one at a time. It has been working fine ever since. I really like the package. I haven't determined whether changes I make to videos during PLAY can be saved (i.e. hue, saturation, contrast, etc), but if so, then it is better than more expensive packages I've tried!!
