Settings and Defaults re Updates

Postby genegold » 15 Nov 2008 05:52

I use XP but assume this is a cross-system question. I just updated to the latest, 0.9.6. In the prompt for uninstall, I leave the 'delete the existing settings' box unchecked. What's confusing is how that reconciles with the reinstall showing all file types as default? Am I missing something, or is VLC ignoring its own prompts and overriding the previous choices?

Uninstaller and Installer are separate. Existing settings are about VLC settings, not Windows association setttings.

Call it you will, the question is, is VLC's install making the user reset all the previously existing file association settings (choices), and from memory? If so, why?
