Audio: How to boost voice or lower volume rear speakers?

Postby karlsen87 » 12 Nov 2008 22:39

I'm using a logitech 5.1 surround system connected to my laptop.

Is there any way to boost the voice/dialogue volume, or maybe lower the volume on the rear speakers.

I'm asking because the background music/effects is too loud compared to the voice volume.

Any solutions? maybe equalizer settings?

Best method is to adjust your speaker levels externally using the Logitech amp (if they are available).

AFAIK there is no volume adjustment in VLC which allows for the gain for invidiual speaker to be changed - the audio driver settings (might) be able to do that.

In VLC you could e.g. downmix to "Stereo" or use the "Headphone virtual spatialization effect" filter, however for true 5.1 adjust the volume using the external amp/audio driver settings.

Thank for the answer, but thats kind of the problem, that it is not true 5.1, but i still want sound in the rear speakers

I have this logitech system: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speak ... 4&cl=us,en
“Matrix Mode”: Enjoy a 5.1 surround sound effect even from 2-channel stereo sources.
I have no possibility for adjustment in driver or on the amp/controller itself.

Earlier i used BSplayer witch worked fine if I used the "live" setting on the equalizer. on VLC that option does not do the same thing.

any more suggestions?

Generally speech comes from the C/Center speaker. If the Logitech software can adjust the individual speaker volumes increase that.

For VLC you could try tweaking the equalizer settings (e.g. amplify the voice-frequency range - 300Hz - 3.4kHz).
