Transcoding MP4-video into mp3 audio file

Postby elvis » 31 Oct 2008 19:12

Aloha!

First: Sorry for my English, I'm no native speaker (Germany).

I wanted to transform a mp4 video into a mp3 audio file, but it went always wrong. Where is my mistake?

When I opened the "Open file" dialogue and tried to configure the settings, the command line looked like this:

Code: Select all

:sout=#transcode{acodec=mp3,ab=192,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=raw,dst="/home/max/this.mp3"}}
What's wrong, which part do I have to edit? I searched about the problem in the forum here and found the advice to use the "raw" output, but this didn't work either.
The problem is: VLC tries to transcode the file, but when I open the mp3 file, I get the error code "stream contains no data" (at Totem). The mp3 file is just a little bit smaller (53.5 MB) than the original mp4 file (58.6 MB). When I watch the mp4 video, sound is matching good - so there's no problem with the audio on my pc or something...

I'm using VLC 0.8.6e Janus at a Ubuntu Linux 8.04.

Thanks for your help!

So long,
Max
