How to start/stop recording in rc/telnet interface

Is this possible? If I start vlc with one of these interfaces, then add a file to the playlist and start it playing, is there any way to start recording it and then stop recording it from within this interface? If I do a "longhelp" from the telnet/rc interface, I don't see any commands that have to do with recording.
