Can VLC Implement Architecture of Adobe FMS

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Can VLC Implement Architecture of Adobe FMS

Postby vibes992000 » 03 Oct 2008 18:44

Dear Admin,

I'm very curious to know that is there any method by which we can use the architecture that is being used by Microsoft Media Services or Adobe Flash Media Server 3 even in VLC. Their Architecture has the following common things

1) Setting an encoder on a machine which streams to a server present in some another machine
2) Installation of VLC Server on that Machine which will accept the incoming stream from that encoder.
3) Features like Monitoring the connected users, disconnecting users (on demand), Controlling Bandwidth, Tracking statistics about the bandwidth usage, Cpu usage etc

Please let me know that is there any development going in VLC over these issues or vlc is simply an application that listens on a specified port and users who are interested in streaming have to connected to that Static IP Directly. Actually I'm using this method only however many times I get critisized from people that why am I not using the setup as done by Adobe or Microsoft Media Services to get a better report about my streaming status

Anyone having some knowledge about the above raised issues ,, kindly reply and guide me ..

Thanks

I speak of VLC, yes. Statistics in VLC tell you a few things, and especially output streaming bandwidth.
