VLC Crashes the Audio on My computer

This is a frustrating problem. When I play certain avi with AC3 audio, my vlc gives me the following error message:

coreaudio: failed to set buffer size: [nope]

and then all my audio goes dead on my comp forcing me to restart. I know VLC players can deal with AC3 and my friend using his G4 labtop was able to play the same avi fine with his vlc. Could I have something installed that is messing the audio codec? Also, I tried changing the audio prefrences and selecting the AC3 option, but that wouldn't work. Please help. Oh and I'm running this on OSX 10.3.

You have a G5 computer. Search the forum and you will see why this is a problem.

Uh. . . could you maybe guide me to the right forum since you're familiar with the problem. I've found another forum where people are complaining about sound problems on G5's but no solid answer and that's a newer thread than this. So, a little link would be nice. Gracias.

yo The DJ. It's cool. I searched for G5 and found the answer. You the man, my b. All I had to do was switch preferences:modules:audio output:coreaudio from -1 to 1. thanks yall.

You get some audio, but it is filled with static and distorted. Any ideas. Thanks!

I just did a little research and it appears that apple has changed some of its audio core calls in the new G5. Could this be causing the static and poor audio with VLC?
