Problem playing AVI from Pentax Optio E50

Using VLC 0.8.6i on MacOSX Intel, the video from my Pentax Optio E50 play with bad color and bad sound.
They play OK with QuickTime Player 7.5 or MPlayerOSX 1.0rc2.
The files are AVI, with video MJPG 640x480 30fps and audio PCM 11kHz.

Is this problem known?

To be sure that this problem is machine-independent, I have tried with VLC 0.8.6e Janus in an Ubuntu, and playing the same files results in a SEGV.
