vlc 0.90 git - clear "history"

I have a reasonably current git tree (which will be updated in the next day or so).

vlc0.90.x builds and runs fine (thanks)

Media File Open ...
you get a selection box with most recently used directories selectable from a list

How do I clear that list? I tried all manner of in program and OS wide things, but still there.
I could wipeout the ~/.vlc directory and that might take it out but that is fairly drastic.

I may have missed something obvious - if so please enlighten me.
