VLC play error

I've just built the vlc from the source code vlc-0.8.6h, but could not play as the following error:

$./vlc file:///test/test.mp3

[00000253] main demuxer error: no id3 module matched "any"

What was missing?

I am new to the VLC and I am using the command line VLC in linux, could you please explain more on how to reset the plugins cache?

but if you've built VLC without ID3 support, it's not going to help.
