Different Image Quality with different players

Postby Ma-X » 29 Jun 2008 16:52

When using VLC with two different laptop, I saw that the image quality is better with one than the other.
I took a screenshot so that you can see the differences...

First Computer: VLC 0.8.5 (if I remember) with windows xp:

Second Computer: VLC 0.8.6h with windows vista:

So the first computer has a better image quality than the second.

Now you can see the differences with this GIF:

I tried to compare every setting but I didn't manage to solve the problem...
Does someone know how to have the same quality ?

Thank you j-b, I solve my problem :) !

In fact the default video output module on xp (VLC 0.8.6a) is the DirectX video output.
On vista with the 0.8.6h player, it is the DirectX 3D video output....

Yes, bug in Direct3D on 0.8.6 branch... Will be fixed in 0.9.0 direct3D. try Nightly build if you want to keep aero.
