streaming http on a port other than 8080

Postby daviddoria » 15 Apr 2008 00:10

for some reason I can connect to the stream on my LAN, but even though I have forwarded 8080 in the router to the machine hosting the stream, I cannot connect to it from outside the router. When I try to use a different port (8000) i get this:

[00000338] main private error: Cannot resolve [http port 8080 : Name or service not known
[00000338] main private error: cannot create socket(s) for HTTP host
[00000338] access_output_http private error: cannot listen on [http:8080
[00000337] stream_out_standard private error: no suitable sout access module for `http/asf://[http://192.168.0.2:8000]'
[00000336] main stream output error: stream chain failed for `standard{mux=asf,dst=[http://192.168.0.2:8000],access=http}'
[00000335] main input error: cannot start stream output instance, aborting
[00000317] main playlist: nothing to play

what else can I try?

Thanks,

Dave

i saw another post that said not to use 8080 because it is sometimes the "remote access" port for the router so it wouldn't work - indeed the case on my router.

also, with the "wizard", it doesn't seem to allow you to specify a different port (ie 192.168.0.2:8090). However, when you do this:
open -> capture device
check stream/save
click settings

it allows you to change the port. then i forwarded 8090 to my machine and everything is working!
