"computer too slow" warning

Hi, I´m trying to view a video from an internet http server but VLC gives me the following warnings and won´t play it:

[00000198] ffmpeg decoder error: more than 5 seconds of late video -> dropping frame (computer too slow ?)

I´m running a PIII 1GHz and have no trouble viewing videos from disk. Would you have any idea what the problem could be?

VLC cannot download the file quick enough to play it back in real time.
