Wrong duration for Theora videos in VLC media player

Postby jemm » 28 Feb 2008 00:10

I've noticed that for Theora videos (ogg container+theora+vorbis) correct duration is not displayed in VLC media player status bar and stream & media info windows (figures are always heavily bigger). Videos have been coded both with many versions of ffmpeg2theora and thoggen (with older and most update theora libs) and the result is always the same. I've tested with last stable VLC media player versions under Debian and Windows + last nightlies in Windows. The same time moving back and forward with arrows or ctrl+arrows doesn't work either (like there's trouble in reading index).

The same videos have correct duration displayed and moving back and forward with arrows or ctrl+arrows works fine in Totem (with GStreamer backend) and Xine (with xinelib backend). Also ogginfo from vorbis-tools displays correct stream structure and duration.
