Statistics via the command line?

Hello,
I was wondering if there's a way to get the playback statistics via the command line /console. Currently, I'm running vlc (on Windows, but I don't think it really matters) with debug, and then I'm counting the number of 'skipped frame' messages ...
I'm sure there's a smarter, better way to do it...

Regrettably, the playback statistics are only available in the WxWidgets, QT4 and Mac OS X interface right now, so they're GUI only. By editing the source of VLC's command line interfaces, this should be quite easy to change though. If you cannot do that yourself, feel free to add a Feature Request to trac, otherwise we gladly accept well-documented patches at vlc-devel --at--- videolan dot org.

Has this capability been added? I too would like to display the "raw" statistics (e.g., bit rate from the host) for a particular stream. The statistics window is good but I cannot find an option to log its contents to a file.
