VLC multicast input, file output

Postby jfish » 18 Dec 2003 23:09

I'm trying to use vlc to receive a multicast mpeg2 input and send it out to a file in transport stream format. The multicast stream is already encoded and shaped at the rate I want and it was there as VLC displays it but whenever I pick the stream output option inside the GUI (Windows version), it doesn't save any file. The TS file will go on a Kasenna VOD server for playback. On a side note I was able to run the command line to save the stream to a file but the Kasenna didn't like the file. Anybody ever tried this or have any advice?

Thanks jfish

I have tried reading from a DVD and tried dropping it to a TS and a PG file while transcoding to mpgv and mp3 and it still doesn't work.

I ran the following on the command line
vlc -vvv dvdsimple:D:@1:1 :sout=#transcode{vcodec=mpgv,vb=3000,acodec=mp3,ab=192,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=ps,url="C\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\blah.mpg"}}

I also ran the same for a TS but obviously put the correct mux and url variable in but still no go. Also tried the latest code but that doesn't want to work either

Any ideas? Am I missing something?

Thanks
