File Association with the Great VLC

When I associate anavi with vlc or use "open with" it tells me that the movie is not a a valid win32 appication, but when I open vlc then the movie it is fine... Any ideas?
Apart from this it rocks!

I have no idea what causes this, but your not the first to report it. I must say it works just fine with me.

yeah its bizzare, I have four machines on the home network, it works on one out of four - super strange, has anyone had this before then fixed it?
