Installing VLC on an external Hard disk?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Installing VLC on an external Hard disk?

Postby Domren » 09 Dec 2006 14:27

Hi,

Would it be possible to install VLC (for instance the "portable" Framakey version which runs on a 1 Go key) on an external HD to have it play the files on a TV?

Thanks!

Of course, just download the zip version and unzip it on your portable HD.

Thanks, but :

We are talking about the "portable" version?

Don't you think it would interfere with the existing software?

Which interface could I use, the HD being plugged directly to the TV? (no in between computer?)

The zip file release is just VLC without the registry keys and shortcuts. It will not interfere with existing software since VLC is standalone.

You could use all the interface you want.

IS it possible that we install VLC in any of the external HDD media player(with video output to TV set) and make it possible to the video files in the HDD directly (no PC involved) on our TVs??
Is there a guide to do so??
Or we just need to download VLC (windows) in zip files and unzip it into the external hard disk??
