Overlay on specific pos+size at startup, controls on monitor

Hi,

I use VLC to watch videos @home and sometimes to present videos in dual monitoring (both, privat video evening and public presentation tecnique).

Is there any way to start my vlc just normal, on the last know position, with an open playlist or something, everything as we are used to it.

BUT: by clicking on a specific button in the interface or a hotkey or a parameter in the link or whatever, the overlay (and only the overlay, no controls, no border, nothing else) will be displayed at a position, defined before (at me it will be on the secound monitor @ x=1280 y=0 hsize=1024 vsize=768, but on a differenz configuration it might be other data).


Can I reach a similar result by other way (present a video on the secound screen)?

The skins 2 interface will remember position.

The wxWidgets interface in non-embedded mode will remember window position if specified in Perferences.

Well, remember the position of the controls is no problem at all, that's right.
But if you put the overlay out of the controls (I will explain with a few screenshots) for the next time you open vlc it will put the overlay back into the controls:

1. Open a Movie an [F] for fullscreen:


2. Switch to the controlpanel with alt+tab
You cannot take a screenshot of that... i think everybody know what to do.

3. Move the controls to another place / Monitor


4. End fullscreen [F] or select the next track in the list or restart vlc: the overlay is back in the contols




I would like to store the position of Overlay AND controls seperably. Know what I mean?

Embedded and / or non-embedded modes in Preferences for wxWidgets or use the skins 2 interface and pick a skin that allows a minimal interface like the default skin 2 skin. Your choice!

Hi,

I tried to untic "embedd overlay" and it worked partically. I got another window for the overlay, that I can place everywhere, even on my second screen in fullscreen.

But then, as soon as I press stop or the next item in the playlist is selected, the overlay chooses my first screen again (!) (but still in fullscreen).

When I close VLC while playing a file in fullscreen and start it again the overlay in in a window again (no fullscreen and on the wrong monitor).

Do I have to make changes on my graphics driver? How can I manage this?

ps: I did not find skin2interface in my preferences, using the most recent version of the player (?)
