Using VLC functionalities in other software (libvlc?)

Postby toratora » 21 Mar 2007 15:59

Hi

I'm part of a project in which we need to add a video streaming from a webcam and displaying it on a client, something that VLC can do. I want to know if it's possible to use the source code or any libraries (libvlc I read) to integrate these functionalities in my own software.

Can this be done? Thanks

Yes, you can. If you link to libvlc, your software needs to be GPL, though.

Thanks for the tip.

So I've been reading the wiki, but I didn't get for sure if I can use the libs for streaming video over a network, as well as for capturing from a webcam. Any help with this?

Thanks!
