File streaming hick up with VLC 1.0.1

Postby electricity » 07 Sep 2009 17:57

Hi

I'am experiencing some hick-ups with VLC v1.0.1-win32 during file playback over VPN with a ~3 MBit/s bandwidth, playing a 700MB AVI (50min). With an older version of VLC 0.9.4 it works really fine. According to my (simple) calculations ; 2Mbit/s bandwidth should be sufficient. (experienced on two different laptops and one desktop computer)
My settings (different from default) : stream - input modules - file - buffer size=20000ms (my version is in dutch, so translation could be crappy).
Looking at my Task Manager, I see that it is using full bandwith (3Mbit/s) at the beginning, and then quickly drops to less than 30% BW usage.

HW + SW config
* Windows XP Professional
* 2 different laptops + 1 desktop model.

Anybody else experiencing the same problem?

Thanx,
electricity
