Lots of ways.

If you know how to code, code.
If you know VLC media player, document and wiki... Answer here...
If you know how to design, make a skin or help us on the websites, or the new interfaces...
If you know how to speak, promote VLC media player http://www.getvlc.org for example...
If you know people, advise them to use VLC.

I too would be willing to help you guys except for one minor problem: I'm completely useless in almost every way. But maybe I can be the idealist and give people a fresh look at my idea for the website, QT4 interface and stuff like that. Hey wait a minute, what is CloudStalker talking about? Anything you want, check the feature request forum.
Also, Qt4 interface needs a lot of works those days.
Check trac tickets, there are a lot of feature requests.

Speaking of the QT4 interface, if you want to try your hand at something more difficult check out my thread: QT4 Consolidation Thread (All QT4 Related) as requested. I'm not sure what all developers are working on the QT4 interface alone but I'm sure they can use all the help they can get. Pick any one of them, except what has already been addressed of course.
