SPDIF audio problem

Hello All, been using various 0.9.0 nightlies up to around August time, using SPDIF output to my AV receiver, works perfectly for Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS.
However, the nightlies from the past couple of weeks seem to have stopped working with SPDIF. When playing a DVD with Dolby Digital, although my amp still switches automatically to DD mode, there is just silence instead of audio. On DVDs with additional DTS soundtrack, I can select the second audio track in VLC, and the DTS output works.
After stopping and starting the track again, although VLC had defaulted back to audio track 1, the DTS was still being outputted, so I wonder if there is a problem with the audio track selection code rather than any SPDIF related stuff? I don't know, but hopefully someone will know what is wrong!

Thanks,
Ben

You mean the wxwidget interface? Open the preferences > all > Interface > Main > module > wxWidget Interface. It's not a skin.

EDIT: Oh j-b was faster :D
No I mean that Nightly looks Different from the original VLC
I was wondering if it was possible to get Nightly to look the same as the original but still have all the functions.
If I can do this in wxWidget I have no clue how to.
Thank You everyone for your fast response :D
vlc.exe -Iwxwidgets.

Thank You Very Much
Is there anyway to set hotkeys to the hide and show interface?
I've tried several times and VLC either errors or just doesn't work when i press the button i assigned.

SPDIF audio problem

Yes :D I have just downloaded several versions and tested them. The last working version is vlc-0.9.0-svn-20070922-0001, the problem then appears in vlc-0.9.0-svn-20070923-0000 onwards.

Thanks,

SPDIF audio problem
Can you give the exact date of change ?
Yes :D I have just downloaded several versions and tested them. The last working version is vlc-0.9.0-svn-20070922-0001, the problem then appears in vlc-0.9.0-svn-20070923-0000 onwards.

Thanks,

I'll confirm that this is true, all builds after the 22end of October give me an "Assertion" error and then crash. I'll post a ticket if there is already one.

This is a different problem. I also get that same error on very recent builds, however the SPDIF issue I refer to appeared on 23rd September, not 23rd October!

Thanks,
Ben.

1-the streaming not working
2-when i try to change any value number inside the preferences or in the stream its not working .. cant type or use the kyebourd
so i have to use page up or down

3-i don't know how to describe but the windows repeat it self
media -> network or streaming -> play .. the video start then open windows come up again
media -> streaming -> select source like udp -> stream -> change video , audio codec -> stream
nothing happened then the stream output windows come again and again until i close vlc

==
the error when exit fixed
cant save language in preferences
The quit error is fixed. Cool to have confirmation. :D
Language in simple prefrences or in complete ones ?
1. Explain
2. Explain.
3. yes, known unfinished part.

i think streaming and transcoding is a major part and need more time coz they want to improve it especially with wmv/asf
i don't expect it soon

Latest windows build - on XP when attempting to open a WMV file ther is an error box that displays endless "File reading failed\nVLC could not read the file" The box cannot be closed. Have to use the task manager to kill it.

I would also like to report another error. When I try to play any .avi file a window always appears saying: 'the avi file is broken' and it gives me the options to repair, don't repair, cancel. I know that there's nothing wrong with these files and I've even installed a previous version of VLC (0.8.6d) to test this and they play without any trouble there, it's just in the more recent nightly builds.

Confirm that here too.
I wanted to add that if you proceed with repairing, nothing will happen. I.e. progressbar doesn't move on. Then, in backgorund, it plays for some seconds, 11 or so, and then says it cannot read the file. Same happens if you simply check not to repair the file.

 Sorry about that, here's another problem: when listening to a WAVE file using the latest nightly builds everything seems to play through fine, that is until you try seeking to another position and then there's this really loud distortion that will continue for the remainder of the file. I suggest turning down your listening device before testing this one.

I would also like to confirm the "this avi file is broken" bug. I'm using the latest trunk build 20071215-0001 and the same problems are occurring as stated above, thankyou for your time.

I've been using the nightlies for a while now, but about a week ago started seeing this problem, so I switched back to the release build for a while, switched back tonight and still seeing that issue. Different videos will run different lengths, though all about 8-15 seconds. It will run to the same point each time, so it doesn't seem to be totally random.

I assume this error is pretty reproduceable, but I'll throw out a log dump anyway, just in case: (build 20071216-0926)
this is everything from right after it decided which filter to use, and I did no seeking on my own.
this file plays with no problems in .8.6d

You may then use 20071125-0001 if you want. Last build that works for me.

Hi
I'm testing VLC nightly build for Windows, and since you moved to the new QT4 interface I noticed a strange behavior in the open file dialog.
Assume you have a very populated directory tree: you scroll down until you find the directory you want to enter, and double-click. Then, you are NOT at the first entry/file of the chosen directory, regardless of the sorting, but at the Nth (i.e., as you already scrolled down upon entering the directory).
Looks like, entering the new directory, the pointer to the first shown item in the list were not reset but kept to the previous value.
It is a constant issue in the last month or so, I was unable to check on today's build because this one crash directly upon launch :p

Windows version 20071220-0000 does not crash as 20071218-0000 did, so I checked again.
The problem is still there, and it is evident if you select the "Detail View" (and you have a very populated filesystem tree)
Actually it looks like some randomness was added... I tried reproducing the problem, and sometimes the behavior look correct (but awfully slow in populating the dirs, probably due to the high amount of files). Most of the times the error was present, and happens both selecting a folder or using the "up one dir" and "back" buttons (actually, more using these, probably because then the dir content was cached while loading it from the beginning reset the pointer?)
Additionally, most AVIs are still reported as broken but at least are playable, while an huge amount of wmv give an "VLC coud not read the file" error. I can't tell if there's a difference in the codec used because the codec infromation window (Ctrl-J) seems not to be implemented yet.
As an additional note, I can't change the interface language, it keeps being on "Auto" (I tried to switch to English in order to write the right menu names)
Also, if a movie reach the end in full-screen mode, it automatically reverts to the desktop and the VLC main window is not available, I have to use the bottom right cone taskbar icon to display it again. Is that the desired behavior?

Assertion errors persist. :( It still crashes when loading multiple items; I'm forced to always revert back to the November 22 Nightly build.
