Hi there,

I'm a little bit sad when I notice you're using Transifex which is non free software to handle translations.
We have a real powerful open-source alternative : https://hosted.weblate.org

Please have a look, and maybe some day move to this great tool ?
I know it isn't easy to handle such wide migration, I don't expect it to be right now. But please study it someday.

You can see a big platform with opensuse: https://l10n.opensuse.org/
Debian use it for some of it's guides (it's on hosted).

thanks for your great softwares

High capacity project.

Hi,
I'm the current Transifex project maintainer and I'm also deeply involved with Weblate.
Hosted Weblate is a great solution but we need to concider if this is the best solution for us.

First of all, Hosted Weblate is using the dev version of Weblate, meaning that the translators are also the beta testers for Weblate, although this is highly recommended from Weblate's side it might cause some frustrations to the translators.

Furthermore, VLC is a very active project, we are talking about 144 languages (About 50 are empty or inactive), 2,065 collaborators, over 20,000 source strings, last March we had over 19,000 new translations and over 3,000 changes to existing strings.

We have many parameters to consider and lots of work before we can commit to this kind of change with minimum damage.

Kind regards,
Yaron Shahrabani.
